Role: Full Stack Developer
Tech Stack: WordPress, PHP, ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), JavaScript, SCSS, MySQL, Git, WP Engine
Timeline: Tight deadline - 3 Months

Project Overview

B&G Foods, a major player in the consumer food industry, needed a large-scale migration of 50+ individual brand websites—ranging from household names like Ortega and Green Giant to more niche specialty foods—onto a unified, modern WordPress platform. The goal: streamline content management, improve performance, maintain SEO integrity, and deliver a cohesive user experience across all brand sites.

My Contributions

  • Custom Theme Development:
Built reusable, modular themes using ACF Flexible Content fields to allow marketing teams to quickly create and edit content without developer intervention.
  • Data Migration:
Helped develop scripts to pull content, media, and metadata from legacy CMS platforms and import them cleanly into WordPress, preserving URL structures and minimizing SEO impact.

  • Performance Optimization:
Implemented lazy loading, asset minification, and efficient database queries to ensure fast load times across all sites—even under high traffic.

  • Responsive & Accessible Design:
Worked with designers to ensure WCAG-compliant, mobile-first layouts were delivered across all pages and templates.

  • Deployment & QA:
Used Git and WP Engine deployment tools for efficient rollouts. Handled cross-browser testing, bug fixing, and post-launch support under tight deadlines.

Results

  • Successfully migrated and rebuilt 50+ brand websites within the set timeframe.

  • Created a highly flexible, scalable WordPress environment that drastically improved content management efficiency.

  • Enhanced page speed, mobile responsiveness, and user experience across all brands.

  • Maintained organic search performance and analytics continuity post-migration.
